Use AI image styles
Upload a reference image or save a canvas selection as a custom AI image style, then reuse it when generating new images.
Browse Styles gives you hundreds of built-in looks you can apply to your AI generations, plus your own custom styles saved from an image or straight from your canvas. Use it whenever you want a specific, consistent aesthetic across what you generate.
Before you start
Browse Styles is available in AI Image Generator. Applying a style doesn't use tokens by itself, tokens are only spent when you generate an image, and the cost depends on the model you use. See Tokens in Kittl for details.
You can save one custom style on the Free plan. Pro, Expert, and Business plans can save an unlimited number.
Open Browse styles
Open the AI input box. Click the AI icon in the bottom toolbar.
Make sure the mode selector is set to Image. If it shows Agentic AI or Video instead, click it and switch to Image.
Browse by category, like Clipart, Vector, Photo, Logo, Artistic, Typography, Design, and Pattern, or search for a look.
Click a style to apply it. Each card shows the model it's built for.
Once applied, the style attaches to the AI input box as a small thumbnail. Type your prompt, then click the arrow up button or press Enter to generate.
Save and use your own style
Prefer a look that isn't in the built-in categories? Save your own under Your Styles, either from an uploaded image or a selection on your canvas.
Upload a reference image as a style
In Browse Styles, click Your Styles, then click Upload Style.
Choose an image from your computer.
Your image is processed and saved under Your Styles, named after its look, for example Realistic or Vector Art. It's attached to the AI input box as soon as it's ready, so you can start prompting right away.
A style guides the overall look and feel of your result, not its content. Kittl doesn't copy every element of your uploaded image, it studies the aesthetic and reapplies it to your prompt. For the most consistent results, keep your prompt focused on the new subject and skip extra style directions, since your saved style already covers that.
Create a style from canvas selection
Select an image on your canvas.
Right-click it and choose Save as AI Style.
Manage your saved styles
Open Your Styles in Browse Styles, then use the ••• menu on a style card to rename or delete it.
Expected outcome
You'll get new images in the look of whichever style you applied, built-in or custom, following its color palette, line work, and overall feel, based on whatever you described in the prompt.
Common questions
What's the difference between a style and a reference image?
A style captures the overall look and feel of an image, like its color palette and line work, and applies that aesthetic to a new prompt. A reference image, added separately from the + menu, gives the AI something more specific to work from. You can use both together with your prompt.
Does applying or saving a style cost tokens?
No. Tokens are only spent when you generate an image, and the cost depends on the model you use. See Tokens in Kittl for details.
Can I use a style with any model?
Most styles are built for a specific model, shown on the card. Turn on Auto-apply Model to switch automatically, or turn it off to keep your current model and apply the style's look on top of it.
Why I can't save a new style.
If you're on the Free plan, you're limited to one custom style at a time. Delete your existing style from Your Styles to make room for a new one, or upgrade to Pro, Expert, or Business for unlimited styles.
