Fix a project that's slow or laggy
One project running slower than the rest usually points to something inside that specific design, not your browser or device. Use this article to check what's causing the lag and speed the project back up.
If clicks lag, elements drag late, or zooming feels jerky in just one project, while everything else runs fine, the issue usually lives inside that specific design rather than your browser or device. Large uploaded images, a heavy layer stack, AI generated images, or a big canvas size can all make one project noticeably slower to work in. Try the steps below to speed things back up.
Troubleshooting steps
1. Confirm it's just this project
Open a different project, then create a new blank design.
If only this project lags, the design is likely large or complex. Continue with the steps below.

2. Let the project fully load before editing
A heavy project can still be loading in the background even after it appears on screen.
Open the project.
Wait one to two minutes without clicking or zooming.
Try editing once it's had time to settle.
3. Refresh the page
Start with a hard refresh to clear any temporary slowdowns.
Mac: Cmd + Shift + R
Windows: Ctrl + Shift + R
Then reopen the project.
4. Edit one action at a time
Rapid clicks, zooms, or drags can make a heavy project feel even slower.
Click once and wait briefly before your next action.
Move one element at a time instead of selecting several at once.
Zoom in smaller steps.
5. Simplify the design
If the project is still slow, reducing what's in it usually helps the most.
Delete unused elements and hidden layers.
Reduce the number of images, or replace large images with smaller versions.
Split a very large design into multiple projects.
