Use AI Image Generation
Generate AI images in Kittl with prompts, choose models and aspect ratios, refine outputs, and place results on your canvas.
AI Image Generation lets you create images right on your canvas from a text prompt, choosing your own model, style, and settings along the way. Use it whenever you need artwork, an illustration, a product shot, or a background, and want full control over how it looks.
Before you start
Open a project or start a new one. Generating an image uses tokens from your plan, and the cost depends on the model you pick, shown before you generate. See Tokens in Kittl for details.
If you're on a Free plan, images you generate are public under Kittl's licensing terms and show up in the Explore tab of the AI Gallery for anyone to see. Paid plans can choose to keep a result private instead.
Generate an image
Click the AI icon in the bottom toolbar to turn on AI Mode, or click AI Image Board or AI Video Board under Tools in the right panel. All of these open the same AI input box.
Make sure the mode selector is set to Image. If it shows Agentic AI or Video instead, click it and switch to Image.
Describe what you want to create in the input box. If you're not sure how to phrase it, check out our AI resources, including Prompt Guides, Sample Prompts, and more.
Optionally, choose a model, aspect ratio, and number of images to generate. See Choose a model and Set aspect ratio and how many to generate below for details.
Click the arrow button to generate, or press Enter. A purple loading card with a live countdown is displayed.
Choose a model
Click the model name in the AI input box (for example, ChatGPT Image 2) to open the model picker. Each option lists what it's best at, like complex prompts or highly detailed imagery, along with the token cost. Pick a lighter, faster model for a quick draft, or a higher-quality one when the result matters more.
Apply a style
Click the + button in the AI input box, then choose Browse styles.
Browse by category, like Clipart, Vector, Photo, Logo, Artistic, Typography, Design, and Pattern, or search for a look.
Click a style to apply it. Each card shows the model it's built for.
Save your own style
In Browse Styles, click Your Styles, then Upload Style.
Choose an image from your computer.

Add a reference image
Click the + button in the AI input box, then choose Upload images to open Select or upload an image. Choose a file from your uploads, My AI Creations, a connected brand kit, or Pinterest, or drop in a new one, then click Use Image. It's used as a reference alongside your prompt.
Other ways to start your prompt
The same + menu has two more options if you don't want to write a prompt from scratch:
Prompt presets opens a library of ready-made prompts, each shown with an example image, like Gaming Logo or Retro T-Shirt Design. Click one to apply it to your prompt.

Prompt builder opens a guided panel with optional categories, Style, Perspective, Effects, Colors, Environment, and Lighting, each showing visual options on a live preview. Pick what you want, then click Add to your prompt to append it, or click Surprise me for a random pick.

Set aspect ratio and how many to generate
You can fine-tune a few settings before you generate.
Aspect ratio: Pick a ratio like 1:1, 16:9, or 9:16, or leave it on Match input to follow the size of your artboard or reference image.
Number of images: Select the number of images to generate at a time, up to a maximum of four. Generate up to four variations from the same prompt in one go.
Enhance your prompt
Click the magic wand icon on the prompt box to expand a short prompt into a more detailed one before you generate.
Work with your result
Select a generated image to see more options in the contextual taskbar above it, including:
Remove BG to cut out the background.
Remix to generate a new version based on this one.
Generate Video to turn it into a short video.
Find past generations
Open the AI Gallery from the left toolbar, then click My Creations to see everything you've generated. Click the ••• menu on image to see its prompt, model, and style, then choose Recreate to generate it again with the same settings, Remix Image for a variation, or Add to Project to bring it onto your canvas.
Troubleshooting
I don't see the settings I expect in the AI input box.
Check the mode selector next to the model name. If it's set to Agentic AI or Video, click it and switch to Image.
Common questions
What's the difference between Generate Image and Agentic AI mode?
Generate Image mode gives you full control: you pick the model, style, and aspect ratio yourself. Agentic AI picks all of that for you from a plain description. Use Generate Image when you know the look or model you want, and Agentic AI when you'd rather describe the idea and let it handle the details.
Do I need to select an artboard first?
No, but if you do, it will be used as a reference alongside your prompt.
Can I use a style and a reference image at the same time?
Yes. A style guides the overall look, while a reference image gives it something specific to work from. You can combine both with your prompt.
Can I generate more than one image at a time?
Yes, up to four at once.
Are my generated images private?
Only on a paid plan, and only if you choose to keep them private. On a Free plan, every image you generate is public under Kittl's licensing terms and appears in the Explore tab of the AI Gallery.
How do I find the prompt I used for an image?
There are two ways. If the image is still on your canvas, click it to see its Prompt Details, along with the model used, in the right panel. Otherwise, open AI Gallery from the left toolbar, go to My Creations, and click the ••• menu on the image to see its prompt, model, and style.
