Save your projects

See how Kittl autosaves your work, when to save manually, and where to manage projects from your profile or editor.

Your projects save automatically as you work, and you can also trigger a manual save at any time for extra peace of mind.

Autosave

Every change you make, from adding a shape to editing text to moving an element, is saved in the background as you go. There's nothing you need to do to trigger it.

  1. Keep working on your project as usual.

  2. Click the menu icon in the top left corner of the editor.

  3. Next to Save, you'll see the current status: "Saving..." while a change is being captured, or "Autosaved [time]" once it's stored, for example, "Autosaved just now" or "Autosaved 1 day ago.”

Expected outcome

The status next to Save updates to show when your project last saved, for example, "Autosaved just now" or "Autosaved 1 day ago," confirming your latest changes are stored without you lifting a finger.

Manual save

If you'd rather save on your own terms, you can trigger a save yourself at any point.

  1. Click the menu icon in the top left corner of the editor.

  2. Click Save, or use the keyboard shortcut Cmd+S (Mac) or Ctrl+S (Windows).

  3. A "Your project was saved successfully" message pops up, and the status next to Save updates to confirm the save went through.

Manage your saved projects

Click My Projects in the same menu to open your Projects dashboard, where every saved project lives. You can also get there from the Home Page by clicking Projects in the left toolbar. On Pro, Expert, and Max plans, every save is also tracked automatically in version history, so you can look back at and restore earlier states of a project at any time (see Related articles below).

Troubleshooting

The status keeps showing "Saving..." and never changes

This usually points to a connection issue. Check your internet connection and keep the project open for a moment so the save can finish. If it's still stuck, refresh the page.

I don't see my latest changes when I reopen the project

Give the editor a few seconds after each change before closing the tab, since autosave needs a moment to catch up. If changes are missing, check version history for the version you're looking for.

Common questions

How often does autosave run?

It saves your changes continuously in the background as you work. There's no set interval to wait for.

Do I need to click Save myself?

No, autosave handles it for you. Manual save just gives you a way to trigger a save on demand.

Can I see a history of saved versions?

On Pro, Expert, and Max plans, yes, open version history to preview and restore earlier snapshots of your project. It isn't available on the Free plan.
