Edit and style text
Edit whole text boxes or selected characters, apply supported text settings, and understand which styles work at each level.
Kittl gives you two levels of text control: the whole text box and individual characters. Use this article to understand the difference and apply the right settings for your design.
Textbox-level vs character-level editing
You can apply text properties at two levels:
Textbox-level: affects all text inside the box
Character-level: affects only selected words or letters
Enter and exit text edit mode
Double-click a text box to enter edit mode.
Click outside the text box or press ESC to exit.
To style text, either select the text box (single click) or highlight specific characters (double-click, then drag).
Style an entire textbox
Click once to select the text box without entering edit mode.
Use the Text Settings panel on the right to apply your changes.
Style specific words or letters

You can adjust:

Style text inside transformed or decorated designs
Text transformations and decorations (like curves, waves, shadows, textures, and outlines) apply to the whole text box. You can still style individual characters within these effects.
Select a decorated or transformed text box.
Double-click to enter edit mode and highlight the characters you want to change.
Adjust any of the following in the Text Settings panel:
Font
Font weight
Font size
Letter spacing
Uppercase
Ligatures
Your changes appear inside the transformed layout (e.g., curved or warped), giving you precise control over complex typographic designs.
Character-Level Limitations
Borders (Stroke) aren't supported at the character level. Applying a border affects the entire text box.
